KATIE KOVALASKE
DFA CALF SPECIALIST
Mideast & Central Areas
I grew up on a dairy farm in southern Wisconsin, where I developed my passion for calves. I took over the calf-raising portion of our dairy in the eighth grade. I would feed calves before and after school each day. I managed our calf barn throughout high school before heading to college, where I attended the University of Wisconsin – River Falls to major in dairy science. While in college, I had two internship opportunities to focus on my calf skills. I spent a summer at a large dairy working in the maternity barn, feeding 600 bottle calves on milk. I also had the opportunity to work as a calf specialist intern for a summer with Alta Genetics. After graduating from university, I worked as a feed sales specialist for a local feed mill focusing on calf and heifer nutrition. Still, I also gained knowledge of lactating cow nutrition. I joined DFA in 2022 to focus on my passion for calf and heifer nutrition. I enjoy meeting members nationwide and helping them with their calf and heifer programs.
