Oxytocin Injection is indicated for use in multiple species to stimulate smooth muscle contractions. It is used to precipitate or accelerate normal labor, assist with postpartum evacuation of uterine debris, and reduce blood flow following cesarean section. Oxytocin also promotes milk letdown by contracting smooth muscle cells in the mammary glands.
